Timau Primary School: Timau, Kenya. A rural primary school that has been transformed through the efforts of the extraordinary head mistress Mrs. Kamau and the sustained support of Gordon Murray from Lolomarik farm plus other individual donors in Kenya and abroad. This is an outstanding example of direct, personal, local and foreign aid making a real sustained difference to Africa. To me this is one of the best ways for the old world to help Africa onto its feet - make it personal and direct - and stay the distance.
